A Compliance-First Repair Approach

Because the damage involved street-tree roots, the project required careful coordination before excavation could begin. The necessary NYC DOT sidewalk permit, LPC approval, NYC Parks Tree Work Permit, and 811 Utility Mark-Out Ticket were secured before construction.

The crew removed all 18 damaged flags, addressed the root-related conditions within the permitted scope, prepared and compacted the underlying base, and poured new concrete to restore proper grade and alignment across the frontage.

What Made This Project Unique

This was not a routine sidewalk replacement caused by surface wear alone. The primary issue was active tree-root pressure beneath a large section of sidewalk, which meant the underlying cause had to be addressed before new concrete could be installed.
